A cocktail is not complete without ice cubes. But soft drinks, liqueurs and mixes are also at their best 'on the rocks'. Whether you use ice cubes or ice flakes to keep cool, or to present your product (or both), you will find ice in every catering business. Making ice cream is a breeze with an ice cream maker.

What can I use an ice machine for?

An ice machine makes a large capacity of ice cubes or flake ice in no time. This not only saves you a lot of time, but also a lot of space in your freezer. This ice cream maker doesn't just make ice, it also stores it. So you always have ice cubes at hand. The best-known application is of course to serve drinks nice and cool and to keep them cool. Soft drinks, liqueurs, cocktails and alcoholic mixes are at their best 'on the rocks'. Not only in terms of temperature, but also in terms of looks . Ice cubes and flake ice are indispensable in the catering industry. There are many places where ice serves as an alternative to a fridge or freezer. Think of catering at locations, such as party and event locations, for food trucks, market stalls and catering. Ice cubes or flakes are then crucial to optimally transport and store your food. You kill two birds with one stone by using ice for your product presentation. In a fish stall you want to show the catch to your customers without compromising the quality. A caterer makes his salads look irresistibly fresh. And at a terrace or food truck, a smoothie or a bottle of drink looks a lot fresher in a bowl of ice.

For which catering establishments is an ice cube machine suitable?

As indicated, ice cubes and ice flakes can be found at catering locations where you want to keep drinks cool and food fresh. And you can use ice perfectly for product presentation. Typical catering businesses where an ice machine can be used include:

  • cocktail bars
  • cafes and terraces
  • nightclubs and discotheques
  • hotel bars and dining rooms
  • beach pavilions
  • fast food restaurants
  • snack bars
  • catering at (summer) events
  • food trucks

What types of ice cube machines are there?

It is precisely because an ice machine is so widely applicable that Maxima Kitchen Equipment has ice cube machines in many different sizes.
Your choice is based on the capacity and the format. There are compact table models that fit perfectly in the kitchen or behind the bar. For a high capacity, there are machines that can make up to 130 kg of ice cubes or 400 kg of flake ice per 24 hours!

There are two types of ice machines:

  • ice cube machine for ice cubes/cubes
  • flake ice machine for flake ice/flake ice/crushed ice

These ice machines can be divided into two types:

  • water cooled
  • air cooled

For indoor use, an air-cooled ice maker is sufficient. A water-cooled ice block machine is the better choice at higher temperatures, for example in a warm café or disco, or when it is used outside on a terrace or event. Water-cooled ice machines are better suited as a built-in appliance because you don't have to keep any space around. With air-cooled devices, this is important for the air supply and exhaust.

What are the characteristics of a Maxima ice cube machine?

The production and storage capacity differs per machine, but the following specifications are common to the ice machines:

  • robust stainless steel housing
  • protected against overload
  • 4 adjustable feet for stable placement
  • easy to clean
  • equipped with a water valve
  • good insulation and hygiene
  • quick and easy installation

How much ice do I need?

The exact amount of ice you need is difficult to say. This depends on several factors. Are your drinks already pre-chilled? How cold do you want the drink? You also have to deal with the ambient temperature, the size of your ice cubes and the glass and of course how much ice you put in a glass. There are a number of guidelines that you can look at: For most drinks in glasses, 2 ice cubes are usually sufficient. With 1 kilo of ice you make about 15 glasses. About 5 ice cubes are usual for cocktails, although some cocktails are served with crushed ice. To use crushed ice for your product presentation, you can divide the contents of your bins by 2. You then have the number of kilograms of flake ice left to fill the container or crate.

In our webshop you will find a wide range of catering cooling equipment . Think of refrigerators, freezers, refrigerated workbenches or a blast chiller / shock freezer to quickly cool your dishes to the right temperature.
