What different baking trays are there?
Maxima Kitchen Equipment has a wide range of baking trays and grill plates. The main difference lies in the grilling surface of the plate. It can be smooth or grooved. You use a smooth baking tray for even cooking and can be used for almost all fish, meat and vegetable dishes and eggs. With a grooved surface you get the well-known black grill stripes as you also see on the barbecue. You use this with meat. All plates with a grooved surface are grouped together in the grill plates category. Maxima also has baking trays with a grooved surface and a smooth surface. This way you have the best of two cooking zones in one appliance. You can also choose between an electric griddle and a gas griddle. Both versions have advantages. Electric baking trays heat up quickly and also cool down quickly, which is easy when cleaning. A gas griddle makes it possible to regulate the temperature more accurately. The use of gas is generally also slightly cheaper. The large appliances often divide the griddle into two cooking zones. This is then called a 'double baking tray' in which both halves of the baking tray can be heated with separate thermostats. This is useful if you want to bake your dishes on one half and keep them warm on the other half without burning. The size of the baking tray is of course also important. When there is little space in your kitchen, or when baking on location such as catering or in a food truck, a table-top baking tray is very practical. Maxima also has various baking trays for industrial kitchens that fit into a professional baking wall / cooking line.
What are the advantages of a baking tray?
A baking tray adds flavor to your dish. As with wok woks, you cook on a griddle at high temperatures, which means that meat and vegetables are cooked in no time. This preserves the taste and vitamins. The large workspace on a grill plate is also an advantage. You can prepare several ingredients directly next to each other. Because you usually use little oil or fat with baking and grill plates, this way of cooking is also healthy. A baking tray is also easy to clean. The splash guard and the handy drip tray catch the dirty work, and thanks to the smooth stainless steel housing, you can easily remove leftovers.
Tip: you can of course prepare the tastiest meat dishes yourself with our handy food preparation appliances. Think, for example, of a hamburger press, a sausage filler or a meat mixer to give your own twist to a tasty piece of meat.
How do you use a baking tray?
It is important to let the baking tray come up to temperature first. Set the desired temperature and do not start baking until it has been reached. You can grease the plate with a little bit of oil. Then you can put food on the plate. Turn it over only once so that the color can develop properly and the juices are preserved as much as possible. Clean the plate with a damp cloth before placing new food on the plate. When you have finished baking, let the plate cool down completely. Using a damp cloth is usually sufficient. If there is a lot of time between the last use and cleaning, you can put a little oil on your cloth to get the leftovers off more easily.
What should you pay attention to when buying a baking tray?
First determine where you want the baking tray in your kitchen for the dimensions of your appliance. What capacity do you need? Do you use the baking tray a lot or a little? What dishes will you use it for? These questions determine whether you need a double baking sheet or whether a single baking sheet is sufficient. Also look at the capacity of the thermostat. A good grill plate can reach a temperature of 300 degrees, but low temperatures such as 50 and 70 degrees can also come in handy. What energy supply is available? Can you put a gas griddle there or should it be an electric griddle? With an electric griddle you have to take into account the difference between a 230 volt connection and the 400 volt connection with the large plug.
